I honestly have to admit that I haven't yet read the book, but can say that I will be extremely biased. Frances Gaddy Stegall is (was) my father's First Cousin (my first cousin once removed). Frances was a grand woman who passed away last summer (2014), just a few weeks shy of her 103rd birthday. She wrote her first book at the age of 90, and completed and published 9 books by the time of her death. The only book of hers that I have read is, "Grass Roots: 80 years in Bailey County," which is about hers and my father's family growing up in west Texas, and what sparked my interest in Genealogy. I cherish that book as well as the letters Frances wrote to me over the past 20 years. Additionally, I recently uncovered a box containing family research in her own handwriting that she had sent me at some point in my life. I am so honored to be related to Frances! What a wonderful book. The characters are real and the story is believable. Fast moving, yet clear, it's a real page-turner.
As always, Stegall writes about strong, independant women. It would be wonderful if it were written by anyone but because it is written by a 98 year old, it is particularly amazing.
